Healthcare Analytics Symposium Rocks Ontario
Information Builders Canada held its second annual Healthcare Analytics Symposium at the Hockley Valley Resort in Mono, Ontario from November 30th to December 1st. This two-day event joined 36 like-minded healthcare professionals from 20 organizations who networked and shared information about leveraging data and analytics to reduce costs, improve patient care, and meet increasing government demands for information.
Attendees experienced six breakout sessions covering social and feedback analytics, data quality, ETL, and improving BI adoption rates. In addition to panel and audience discussions on Health System Funding Reform, and Barriers to Innovation, attendees also participated in Executive Roundtable discussions that covered how to reconcile timely versus accurate data, and how to use BI tools to predict funding performance.
Speed rounds – analogous to the format of speed dating – enabled participants to focus on questions impacting healthcare organizations. Participants tackled questions on integrating and partnering with external healthcare organizations, ideas for improving Ontario’s Healthcare Systems, and top priorities in designing the eHealth 2.0 Strategy.
There was no shortage of customer presentations throughout the conference. Joe Tran, a third year co-op student at Conestoga College, demonstrated a new dashboard built for Guelph General Hospital (GGH). Conestoga College's business intelligence (BI) and analytics curriculum includes an internship program and partnership with Information Builders and GGH - all of which Joe embraced to create a dashboard that will be available to other WebFOCUS customers through the newly launched HealthcareAppExchange. This website allows Canadian-based healthcare organizations to share, collaborate, and innovate using pre-built InfoApps™, designed by WebFOCUS customers. HealthcareAppExchange helps healthcare providers drive operational improvements, achieve meaningful efficiencies, and improve overall patient care.
