Gartner has predicted that 8.4 billion devices will be connected by the end of 2017. Why? Because the Internet of Things (IoT) can tell us more about what’s going on around us. It’s all about the data.
We’re hearing about government-backed innovations and pilots of smart cities and connected and automated vehicles, which are designed to optimise traffic flows and save lives on the roads. Manufacturers and governments rely on data to determine how well these newly connected machines and AI systems are performing. As the old saying goes, "You can’t manage what you can’t measure."
Another major focus is the countdown to General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and how organisations can improve data quality and data governance in preparation for the new European regulations coming into force in May 2018.
